I don’t have time to put on a lot of makeup. What products can I use to make myself presentable quickly?
Michelle: I would recommend you use the Pre Base Primer to help make your makeup last longer and protect your skin, then use the concealer in a box to buff under your eyes and over the areas of your face where you find you need a bit of coverage and I would then set this with the Compact Powder Makeup…and because it’s a handy compact and comes with a sponge and mirror, you can take it with you to touch up during the day if you need to.
I’m starting out in my makeup career, do you have any advice on what products I should get first for my kit?
Paddy: Your kit essentials would be a palette of 10 or 20 refills with a mix of highlighters (eye shadow 106, eye shadow lumiere classy champagne), blushers (blusher lumiere bizar bronze, and matte blushers 38 and 7) and eye shadows (numbers 28, 31, 430, 300, 438, 200, 23, 205, 304, superfrost in ray of light and chic copper), at least 4 shades of the Face it Light Foundations (in shades olive beige, golden olive, light beige and CB2 No. 1) These foundations are so easy to carry as the pots screw into each other and the shades blend seamlessly together. Pre Base Primer as it’s a universal primer, Eye Primer, Brow Powder in Blond, 4D Mascara and Liquid Eyeliner in Black.
How do I know what’s the right colour of blusher to wear? I’m very pale and a lot of blushers are very dark on me.
Ellen: I would suggest you stick to blusher in a box numbers 6 or 7 as these are a pale pink colour, or numbers 38 or 39 which are more of a peachy coral colour. If you prefer a more sheen finish to your blusher, peach passion in our blusher lumiere range is beautiful on pale skin. Your blusher should be applied very lightly to give a nice subtle flush to the cheek to warm up the skin.
What’s the best way to cover up my fine lines?
Ellen: Unfortunately fine lines cannot be completely covered. But if you used our Concealer Pen which contains Vitamin E, this will nourish the under eye area and keep it hydrated. Our Compact Powder Makeup in Yellow Beige is a lovely light powder to use to set the concealer under the eye as it slightly smoothes out any lines.
My skin is very oily and I find I get very shiny during the day and my makeup comes off. What can I do to stop this?
Joanne: I would recommend using our silicone based No Transfer Foundation, it and one of my personal favourites to use on oily skin. If you set this with our Natural Silk Perfection Powder this will help to keep your foundation in place during the day.
I have heavy hooded eyes and find it hard to put eye shadow on my eyes without it disappearing. How can I make my eyes look nice?
Paddy: If you use our Eye Primer all over your lid, this will give your eye shadow something to stick to and will stop the shadow from moving around your eyes during the day. If you then use a pale based eye shadow like number 426 and press this all over your lid on top of our Eye Primer this will help to open up your eye, then use a slightly darker matte eye shadow like number 438 and blend this through your crease, but make sure and bring the shadow slightly higher than your natural crease, this will help to camouflage the hood as you will be able to see the shadow when your eyes are open and give the appearance that your eyes are larger.
